Leta was raised in the Bay of Fundy area of Nova Scotia. She recalls her early childhood interest in the local clays. She studied to be a teacher in Halifax and expanded to visual arts training. In the early 1970’s, she moved to Ottawa then Vancouver where she studied at the Vancouver School of Art.
She and her husband, Don, returned to Ottawa and established a home studio. Don is also a potter.
Leta works in raku. She also does stoneware using gas-fired reduction technique.
She and Don continue their pottery now in North Gower, Ontario.
The piece shown below is raku from the 1980’s.
