This well designed 6” bowl was made by Luba and Mile Linhart who emigrated to Canada from Czechoslovakia. They operated a pottery in both Lindsay and Gelert, Ontario from 1972 to 1978. Luba passed away in 1978.
Their work reflects stylized designs from nature and Inuit figures. The clay body is a red ware type. The bowl was thrown on a wheel and the design has been lightly incised on the surface before glazing. The piece below shows a combination of the typical marks - the paper L & M label and the inscribed wording “L & M Designs Canada Halliburton Highlands Pottery.
This work is not easy to find.
