Kinichi was born in Japan in 1953.
He emigrated to the west coast of Canada in 1982 as a ceramic designer for a chemical company. In 1984, he opened his ceramic studio in Richmond, B.C. His work has been exhibited in Canada and internationally.
Using porcelain clay, Kinichi crafts his pieces with a combination of wheel throwing and moulds. The work is both functional and sculptural.
The boat shape piece below is large (25” long). He has combined his first name on the fisherman’s apron.
