Ghita Levin was raised in the Ottawa area. She attended the Nova Scotia School of Art and Design. After graduating, she established a studio near Baie Verte, New Brunswick.
We visited her pottery several years ago. It was along a country road and then down a long lane bordered by small trees and brush. The location reflects her enjoyment of nature seen in her work. Gita used both wood firing and an electric kiln.
Cormorants, crows and dragonflies populate her pieces. The unusual shaped bowl with two prongs at each end is a representation of a skate egg pod. In front is a real dried out skate egg pod that we found on a beach in the Maritimes.
