Veiled Prophet Sterling Napkin Ring

AMERICAN STERLING SILVER NAPKIN RING

This unusual napkin ring dated Oct. 2, 1900 and marked St. Louis commemorates the Veiled Prophet Organization and the festivities held that year.  Along with a raised dragon in the design, there are also the stylized letters VP. This organization started in 1878 with the intent annually to simulate Mardi Gras activities with parades, costumes, and a grand ball. These activities have evolved over the years and continue on today.

This napkin ring weighs approx. 27 grams and is 1” high by 1 7/8” wide. There have been three sold recently on Ebay for over $200 U.S. each. This one is available at the Waterford Antique Market.
