AMERICAN STERLING SILVER NAPKIN RING
This unusual napkin ring dated Oct. 2, 1900 and marked St. Louis commemorates the Veiled Prophet Organization and the festivities held that year. Along with a raised dragon in the design, there are also the stylized letters VP. This organization started in 1878 with the intent annually to simulate Mardi Gras activities with parades, costumes, and a grand ball. These activities have evolved over the years and continue on today.
This napkin ring weighs approx. 27 grams and is 1” high by 1 7/8” wide. There have been three sold recently on Ebay for over $200 U.S. each. This one is available at the Waterford Antique Market. |
