Steve Irvine has been a potter for almost 50 years. Originally from Burlington, Ontario,  he studied ceramics at Sheridan College. His mother, Barbara, was also a potter.

In 1974, Steve moved to an old schoolhouse on the Bruce Peninsula near Wiarton. He works mostly in functional stoneware.

Some of the characteristics are his moulded or engraved faces as shown below. Steve says that he has probably made 15,000 mugs in his career.

The mug shown below has his typical gull imprint.

The pictures below show a variety of the marks that Steve Irvine has used. The first one shown is and SI in a square.

There are a number of Steve’s pieces in the permanent collection of the Art Gallery of Burlington.

Steve has a great website.
