CANADIAN STUDIO POTTERY - LILJA JURSEVSKIS - TREIMANE POTTERY
CANADIAN POTTERY - TREIMANE POTTERY
Here is an interesting Treimane piece. It is possibly a special order for J. R. Murdlin or the Cisco company. To which finding additional information to validate this has evaded us to date.
However, unlike the usual Val-David marking, this piece is marked Ste. Agathe. The areas on the base with glaze missing are where the stilts were placed to keep the glaze from attaching to the kiln during firing.
This type of work shows the innovative nature of potters seeking business. Judging by the style of the advertising Cisco character, it would appear that this piece dates to the mid 1950’s.
